Just 24 hours to go before the start of the Moore Barlow Silicon Cup Regatta, the Charity sailing event for the Tech sector that helps to change lives by raising vital funds for the Dreams Come True Children’s Charity, the Andrew Simpson Foundation and the Greig City Academy.The charity auction has some pretty exciting lots including Intrinsic’s contribution, a Dragon Force Remote controlled Sailing Yacht. How do I get involved?

Sailing changes lives. To watch someone that has never been on a boat before and to see their face when the boat moves through the water driven only by the power of the wind is a great thing to see.

There are many ways to get involved in the sport of sailing. The media portrays gleaming superyachts that are out of most people’s reach but that fact is that most people involved in sailing are ordinary people like me that are passionate about this very special activity. 

Sailing and boating in general takes many forms and is best learned in smaller dinghies to understand the fundamentals. From there, you can progress to larger boats and longer trips. 

Technology

Technology has proliferated all aspects of our lives and sailing is no different.

As a Tech Exec myself, that meeting of Tech and Sailing is something that I find most exciting. From the smallest boats, all the way up to the Grand Prix America’s Cup, Tech has proliferated through the sport. However, if you don’t want Tech in your sailing, you can still go “Old School” as I like to sometimes to get back to the basics.

Along with our partners, we are passionate to do all we can to bring as many people into the sport from all backgrounds and ages,. Young people  benefit hugely from being involved in this rich and diverse environment that teaches many skills, experiences and has numerous facets and directions as well as career and life opportunities.
