The Opportunity

We are working with a very successful, mid-sized, Private Equity-backed FinTech SaaS company.

With rapid ARR revenue growth and an expanding footprint in Europe, APAC and the USA, this SaaS company has been hugely successful in building their business with a single product solution but is now growing revenues with a platform proposition. 

We are seeking to hire a dynamic and experienced Chief Marketing Officer to lead the marketing function and be instrumental in this transition from single product to platform approach. They will be a key member of the executive team, responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing strategy that supports growth objectives and will report to the CEO.

This role requires a leader with a proven track record in SaaS marketing, exceptional skills in marketing metrics and reporting plus the ability to manage and inspire a diverse team across multiple European geographies.

Experience of working for a PE backed SaaS firm is highly desirable.

The Role

  1. Strategic Leadership:

    • Develop and implement a robust marketing strategy aligned with the company’s overall business objectives.
    • Collaborate with the executive team to define marketing priorities and set measurable goals.
  2. Team Leadership:

    • Lead and mentor a marketing team of approximately 20 professionals, including 1st and 2nd line leaders.
    • Foster a high-performance culture that encourages creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
    • Oversee recruitment, training, and development of marketing staff.
  3. Marketing Execution:

    • Drive demand generation, lead acquisition, and customer retention initiatives.
    • Oversee the creation and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across digital, content, social, and traditional channels in multiple geographies.
    • Be instrumental in driving growth from the new platform approach
    • Ensure consistency of brand messaging and positioning across all marketing activities.
  4. Performance Metrics and Reporting:

    • Establish and track key marketing metrics to measure performance and ROI.
    • Prepare detailed marketing reports for the executive team and Private Equity stakeholders.
    • Utilize data-driven insights to optimize marketing strategies and campaigns.
  5. Market Analysis:

    • Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape.
    • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of this area of the FinTech industry, target markets and customer base.
  6. Budget Management:

    • Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
    • Monitor spending to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and financial goals.
  7. Cross-functional Collaboration:

    • Work closely with Sales, Product, and Customer Success teams to align marketing efforts with business objectives.
    • Collaborate with international teams to ensure cohesive marketing strategies across all regions.

 

The Person

  • Will speak fluent German and ideally live in the Munich are or be prepared to relocate to Munich.
  • Will have deep experience in leading a complete marketing function for a SaaS firm in rapid growth mode.
  • Any experience of taking new products to market or moving from a single product to platform approach would be highly desirable.
  • Ideal candidates will be able to show that they were active in the growth and success of another SaaS firm.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing marketing strategies that drive growth.
  • Clear experience of taking a company into new markets, sectors and client engagements.
  • Experience in marketing to both SMB and Enterprise clients would be valuable.
  • Strong expertise in marketing metrics, analytics, and reporting, particularly within a Private Equity environment.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a geographically dispersed team.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • A clear leader and respected figurehead for the Marketing function.
